If there is one area that truly highlights the difference about our work, it is our
decks. One might easily assume that "all decks are created equal" and that would be a mistake. We
have found that the way in which a deck is built determines alot about the durability and
ease of maintenance for your deck. Here is a comparison of how a tradition deck is built and
how a Townsend Remodeling deck is built:
|
THE TRADITIONAL DECK
Nails used on floorboards
Floorboards laid down as is
Rail posts go to floorboard in length
Support posts placed in concrete that is ground level
|
THE TOWNSEND DECK
Screws used on floorboards - see below
Angles cut along seams where floorboards meet - see below
Rail posts are stopped short of floorboard - see below
Support posts placed in concrete that is above ground
|
THE TOWNSEND DIFFERENCE
Screws prevent boards from popping
Allows floorboards to expand with minimal, if any, cracking
Creates a more secure rail post, plus allows for easier cleanup of your deck as
you can sweep debris, leaves, etc. easily off the deck floor.
Prevents potential rotting from water runoff on ground plus minimizes termite access.
